A costume that's too small pinches, and one that's too big slips: either way, your companion is less comfortable. The good news is that three measurements are enough to choose the right size.
The three measurements to take
- Neck circumference, at the base of the neck, where the collar sits.
- Chest circumference, at the widest part of the chest, behind the front legs.
- Back length, from the base of the neck to the base of the tail.
Use a soft measuring tape, or a piece of string that you then measure with a ruler. Leave the space of two fingers so it isn't too tight.
Weight or measurements: which should you rely on?
Weight gives a first idea, but two animals of the same weight can have very different builds. When the size chart gives measurements in centimetres, go by those.
Between two sizes?
Choose the larger one: a costume with some room is more comfortable than one that's too snug.
